Life's tangled skein

Bang!

When you are in Normandy, one of the things you will want to learn about is D-Day. Today we went to the Juno Beach memorial centre, where we learned about the Canadian effort to take the beach as part of the landings. We were treated to a very well-described tour by a Canadian student who worked at the centre, we visited a bunker that would have been used to defend the beach and saw the kind of defences that were deployed.

The Juno Beach Centre, at Courseulles Sur Mer, is extremely well presented and does a great job of presenting the facts of D-Day - not dwelling too much on the politics, or the reasons (the information is there if you look for it), but instead trying to look at the mechanics of both attacking and defending the beach.

It was pretty humbing, actually.
