Rutter Force
The predicted fine weather was correct. We took advantage and headed into the Pennines. I had a plan to visit Rutter Force near Appleby, hoping to have some light on the falls but it wasn't to be at this time of year. The mill dates back to the C16, but spent some time in C20 generating power for the village of Great Asby.. Green Power way before it's time!
In extras is a Grey Wagtail which was busy in the margins.
Afterwards on the way over to Dufton we watched a Stoat dragging what was left of a pheasant across the lane (Camera in the boot - doh!). Then a hike up over Dufton Pike, some great views but I couldn't find a composition I was happy with so I will have to return for another crack at it in future.
Dry January lasted until 2nd January - It had been an exceptional morning and I convinced myself ( & Jess) that in exceptional circumstances DJ could be lifted. And so a return to base via Temple Sowerby and the excellent Kings Arms for lunch and a celebratory pint. :-)
