Last March I blipped the remains of a German ship called Verein which had recently been uncovered by storms. In October 1881 it had been sailing from Stettin to Sunderland when it got caught in severe gales and was in danger of capsizing so the captain decided to beach it near North Berwick to save his crew of seven. Fortunately the crew survived and presumably its cargo of oak timber was salvaged as it could easily be unloaded there at low tide. Today the remains looked slightly different from last year as some sand and water had covered part of the hull.
