Blessings and Berninas

My unsatisfactory trip to  stop at the sewing center yesterday necessitated a search of the house when we got home. I finally found the lost jacket front and list in my shoe cupboard. Where else? Too late and not motivated enough to go back. The plan was to go right after coffee this morning, but the day dawned, well, didn't really dawn, cold and wet. We pulled ourselves together to go to coffee where it was John and the women. He held his own, buying coffee for all of us and, inspired by my oft told story about Grange Home School uniforms, we had an interesting discussion about school uniforms. It turns out that all of us had worn uniforms at some point in our educational careers and all of us preferred it. Slowly grinding back into gear we all took our leave to go off on various errands.

I was less than inspired by the thought of going to the sewing center, but decided I'd better go as soon as I dropped off the man and the dog or I'd talk myself out of it...again. Having decided to make the lining the same as the front, I went straight to the shelf where I saw the fabric yesterday, and, mon Dieu, it wasn't there! Fortunately, one of the young women who tried to help me yesterday remembered that it had been moved and found it for me. I said, 'Bless you'. And she smiled at me and thanked me for the blessing....I also found some striped fabric that I may or may not use for binding, and overheard a woman commenting to her son an awkward young man who had som specific project in mind but needed help in selecting fabric, that it was sometimes difficult to get out of a fabric store without buying everything in sight. I think I’ve seen them in there before.

Today's entry is an antique version of my sewing machine on top of one of the shelves. There was also a fabric on the wall with four stars of the kind I'd like to put on the back of the jacket. I'm hoping to make the star myself, but if the videos explaining how to make them fails, I could always use one of these (first extra of the new year.)

Dana came for dinner last night and helped us make inroads into the beans. I think she is the only one of my children reads these entries with any regularity and as she was leaving she turned and said to me, 'By the way, for the record, I was the one who put the eye patch on the baby Jesus in the crèche, not Tim.' So, for the record, I stand corrected...Dana was a big Raiders' fan back then too....
