On the road
Phone pick from the journey between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
The countryside was incredibly flat with rice paddies for miles. A lot of the houses are on stilts either above water or on dry land so that families can live in downstairs in the shade in the dry season and upstairs in the wet season.
In a lot of the settlements there were massive mansions (often with CPP banners outside) right next to shacks made of wood and barely standing.
We watched an awful but compelling film called Dead or Alive, ate a lot of coconut crackers (new food) and enjoyed the bus decor of cartoon seat covers, fake fruit and gold curtains.
We had 'fusion tapas' in the evening in a restaurant that supports street kids. Great quality food but I don't think they got the memo that tapas should be small portions!
