People Get Ready

In view of the cataclysmic “weather event” promised for tonight/tomorrow, I thought I’d do some preparation in the hope that it will mean I’ll be able to get out to Panto rehearsal tomorrow afternoon. That’s assuming the whole of Kendal isn’t buried under six foot of snow, of course!
The cupboards, fridge and freezer are well stocked with food and the laundry is up to date so we will still have clean clothes even if the pipes freeze. We went to the gym this morning so are fighting fit. The cars have been arranged so that the one with 4WD is in prime position.
However, this all may be in vain. Our cul-de-sac, and the road leading to it, have never had a visit from a gritting wagon in the twenty years I have lived here. Our drive is quite vertiginous as are the surrounding roads (the joys of living at the top of a hill) so it is a perilous journey in snow and ice to reach level ground.
But the Council have, in their generosity, provided a grit/salt bin at the end of the road, for our use. So I have raided it and liberally applied it to my drive and the patch of road outside the house.
I suspect it will make bugger all difference, but it felt good to be trying to do something that might help. No sign of the snow as yet, so I wonder what sights will greet us in the morning…
