Pink on pink

I send sis-in-law Sarah a picture of this bowl filled with pink hyacinths every year as she gave me the bowl but she swears she doesn’t recognise it.  Well she does now because I send her a yearly picture of it. It’s perfect for bulbs but I never use it between.

Beautiful crisp clear day.  We started with crunchy frost as I took the compost out and gradually that melted away to a day where briefly, in direct sunlight it felt warm.  Mum and her carer Patty came for lunch and we had a warmly spicy fish stew and caramalised oranges, although I did a new recipe which was extremely annoying. I shall do the Nigella one I normally do next time. I mean it doesn’t need much of a recipe but she employed a different method which took twice as long.

After they left I walked in the gloaming as with the cooking I hadn’t managed to get out.  In the fading light I didn’t go into the woods but skirted its edge and saw deer in the fields and two red kites close by on fences and telegraph poles.  Venus shone bright alongside a crescent moon.

Roaring fire as it got cold again in the evening and watched The Substance - a body horror starring Demi Moore which was strange and clever but also quite thought provoking.
