Finches and chickadees like this little feeder but an occasional gray squirrel climbs to the top of it too, causing its bent appearance • The wind is bitter cold making it feel like 7F. I learned from yesterday and bundled up to fill feeders and add water to the heated birdbath. At this time of year it’s a once a day or twice a day ritual. For some reason dear deer aren’t visiting much this winter, and when they do it’s usually no more than two at a time, and always at night. Very odd • Most of our decorations were packed away but the trees are still in place and lit at night, keeping our spirits bright this time of year • January is my least favorite month of the year • I made a cabbage soup with potatoes, onions, celery and carrots.
