London Court

London Court is an old Tudor Style building that runs between St George’s Terrace and Hay Street in the middle of the Perth CBD.  It has been there as long as I can remember and Wikipedia tells me it was built in 1937.  It has a wonderful arcade of small shops that run the entire length of the building with many smaller businesses located on the second floor and third floors..  I had made a shortcut to St George’s Terrace via a small street called Sherwood Court and was surprised to see the entire street facade of London Court.  I realised I had never actually seen t quite like this before.  It really is quite a wonderful building.  Sadly as I walked through the court to Hay St I noticed that there were quite a few shops that were vacant.  I wonder of that was a bi-product of Covid or perhaps land lords trying to get too much rent from the lesee’s.  As a small child I used to be fascinated by the clock.  If you look closely you will see just above the clock some figures on horseback.  When the clock struck on the hour these knights on horseback would go into battle.  It’s been a great feature of the cbd for nearly 90 years.  Another trip down memory lane for me as I find my way around Perth again :)
