Wet Start
I set a radio alarm. I have not done that for a very long time. I don't know why I did it last night, but I was pleased that my first action was not to turn it off. Mark Goodier is hosting the Radio 2 breakfast slot until Scott Mills takes over. PY is quite intrigued by the fact that the new show's launch date doesn't seem to have been published. Why not?
I also went for my morning walk. I am pretty sure it's a habit that won't last, but at least I went out. When I stepped out the door, it was pouring with rain, and I almost turned back. I kept to the shortest route around the block, but everything was wet when I got back in. It turns out my shoes were not waterproof.
Today's picture shows a scene from Bushey Road in Raynes Park. This morning is probably typical of many winter mornings along here. The road was wet, but the rain had eased considerably by the time I took it. I caught a gap in the Tooting-bound traffic, so there was minimal traffic on my side of the road, with a few cars visible in the distance, their headlights creating a glow in the dim light. The sky is overcast, giving the scene a grey, subdued atmosphere. The pavement alongside the road is empty, creating a quiet, almost desolate feeling in the image—which is a good description of the morning. The only person I saw on this side of the road today was carrying a yellow umbrella, which I thought lightened the mood.
At the end of last year, PY joined the new gym in Raynes Park. We went to try and pick up whatever he needs to be able to enter it, but it was one of Snap Fit's first properly open days, and there was a bit of a queue at the reception. We walked to Wimbledon Chase to pick up some dinner items while simultaneously getting a bit of exercise. I'd planned to go to my gym, but I am glad I didn't, as I didn't feel too good on the walk. PY cooked dinner when we got back: a lentil and sausage stew. It was delicious.
