Celebrating A Life

It's Yorkshire Day on the 1st of August and this, of course is the day before. As you can see, this isn't a "true white Yorkshire rose" (or even the right strain!). However today is also the day before we celebrate the life of a real Yorkshire rose, M, at her funeral tomorrow afternoon.

M was the mum and mum-in-law of dear friends, M & D. She was lovely, lived a very long life and always had a smile and good word for you right until the end. I was priveledged to see her briefly in a short spell in hospital just before she went back to her nursing home where she died peacefully last week.

M's laugh was truly infectious and that's the way we'll remember her. I'm very proud that M & D have asked me to read at the ceremony. (Though the reading isn't getting through BT's server at the moment... Grrr! Calm, H...).

Like the raindrops on this rose, there'll be tears tomorrow. But they'll soon dry, and the beauty of the rose will remain...
