Handrails

We had two new handrails fitted this afternoon on our terrace steps. They’ve been on order for some time and we’ve been eagerly looking forward to them coming. 

When we bought and renovated the house nearly thirty years ago, the need for handrails didn’t cross our minds. However, now that Smithers’ eyesight is so poor, and because we’re both less agile than we used to be, these handrails will be such a blessing when we do our regular trips to the compost bin!

The chap who came to measure up last October, and the two chaps who fitted the rails today, were all excellent and we’re delighted with the finished result. All we have to do now is desist from using the handrails for a few days to allow the cement to set. I think we can manage that.
