Today's the day .................... for nasturtium seed capers
We were given a very special present recently by some special friends - of a jar of homemade nasturtium seed capers.
They found themselves last summer with a 'forest' of nasturtium flowers that eventually set seed. I'm not sure exactly what they did to them but it involved vinegar of some sort - and eventually it resulted in a crunchy, spicy caper. I knew that I had a fish recipe that involved using capers but I hadn't made it for a while, because we didn't have any capers.
So I made it tonight with our new caper variety - and they worked beautifully. It's such a quick recipe too. It only takes 15 minutes of cooking and it's trouble-free because all the ingredients are wrapped up in a foil parcel that keeps all the juices in ...................
