Life is a Challenge!

ANOTHER GOOD DAY...

...at the Community Fridge, having been away for a couple of weeks.  It wasn’t too cold and the sun was shining, which always makes a difference - and it was good to see everyone again.  For sometime this morning, I was sitting in the café and chatting to people, which of course, I really enjoy and it made me realise that for quite a number of them, the produce they collect from the Community Fridge is secondary to being able to chat to people.

When I am tempted to “complain” about things that happen in our life, I need to think of those I spoke to this morning who are going through so much more - many of them with health issues - and it makes me feel very humble that they share those things with me.

You can see we had lots of produce - and it’s interesting to note that most of the fruit was taken - especially the pineapples and bananas.  Although Christmas is over for another year, we still have lots of mince pies - I don’t think people eat as many as they used to - but although Easter Sunday isn’t until 20th April, we had lots of Hot Cross Buns, so we were offering warm Hot Cross Buns with butter for 20p - a bargain and we did have quite a few takers!

I’m glad to be home and will be putting my feet up and maybe even have a little nap before our son comes to visit in a while - we didn’t see him at all over Christmas so it will be good to see him.

Mr. HCB often puts the vacuum cleaner around while I am out at the Community Fridge, but today went through all his seeds and seed catalogues, getting ready to order them and now he is in the conservatory, where it is still quite warm, having had the sun on it all morning, and getting on well with his 2,000 piece jigsaw puzzle.  I don’t know how he has the patience to sift through all those pieces - and it is rather large.  You can see from the extra that we won’t be eating in the conservatory for a while, as it takes up more than half the table for the actual puzzle and then there are all the pieces to be sorted!

On another note, and surprisingly, after his visit to the GP only on Tuesday, he had a call from him last night to say they had received the photographs at the hospital and would be in touch with an appointment.  I encouraged Mr. HCB to look online at his medical notes, which he did, and found out that an appointment had been made for him on Monday, 20th January.  Great service from our GP and the local hospital, so hopefully, he after the 20th January, he will soon get a date for the minor operation. When the NHS works well, it is brilliant!

It’s still very cold out there, so stay safe and warm.  M xx
