The Pennines have been looking fantastic in the snow over the last few days. Fine cold weather was predicted again so we planned to drive up Hartside, stop at the car park on the ridge and take in the fine views..
Penrith was clear and looked set to be a fine sunrise with a few clouds around. The drive from Penrith takes 30mins on the Alston road. 
East of Langwathby we noted clag up ahead which became more severe as we climbed. By the time we reached the top it was evident that there would be no fine views and no pulling off the road. (Seen Extra).
And so Jess managed an about turn without getting stuck and we descended : Pennines 1, Jess & Nick 0
On the way down Blencathra came to the rescue, as the sun rose casting a red glow over the lakes I was able to get a shot across from the lower slopes of Hartside.
