Wild Wednesday ...
... Monarch Butterfly.
And, no, aren't seeing things! This is a real live monarch butterfly ... picture taken today!
The road trip I alluded to yesterday was to the Pennsylvania Farm Show being held in our state capital ... Harrisburg, PA. This is held annually (although I don't know about the Covid years!) and is a large indoor Farm Show. I've been wanting to attend for some years now and with Richard now retired we were able to go this year. What fun.
As we knew it would take us at least an hour and half to travel to Harrisburg we tried to leave the house by 8:30 to arrive around 10 am. Our departure was closer to 8:45 and it took us almost 2 hours. A lot of that time was sitting in traffic once we got to the Farm Complex. It was very frustrating as not all the drivers were obeying the traffic laws and making up their own. While the rest of us waited our proper turns to get into the parking areas.
But once we were inside we had a grand old time ... even if it was a bit overwhelming. We saw lots of animals, people and the highlight was the butterfly house. I've added into Extras a collage of just some of my favorite pictures from the day. The upper center picture shows the PA Farm Show famous Butter Sculpture. This is made entirely of butter ... 1,000 pounds of butter! All of which will be recycled one way or another.
By the time it was time to go home we were both pretty tired. My Fitbit recorded our walk through at 4.5 miles and I ended the day at 17,736 steps! So it was no wonder I was too tired to even upload and look through my pictures once we returned home. This is backblipped on Thursday.
