Marjorie's ramblings

The end of Christmas

I went to see Margret in her new abode. She has a pleasant room with a view out over the rooftops of Corbridge. She was doing well. It's hard to be in a new place where you don't know the ropes yet.

I took her the folding wheelchair I have here. It was almost new when Mum died and had been used only inside the house, to wheel her from the stair lift to my lounge.

Then I drove to Hexham for a special lunch. I met up with Bruce, whose wife Elspeth was a school friend of mine. It is hard to believe that it is already 15 years ago that she died of breast cancer.

We had a delicious lunch in Salute and chatted mainly about holidays. Bruce is widely travelled and has been on some adventurous trips, including to Namibia.

On my way home I called in at Boots. Two men were dismantling the Christmas lights. I was fascinated to see that they stayed alight until they were in his left hand.

(I know, it's not a very clever deception. I initially very carefully coloured every light, but it did not show up, so I then used a star shaped brush. It pleased me..........!)

Tomorrow promises to be very busy with holiday preparations, mainly making sure that all the camera equipment is ready and clean.
