Epic snow day
What a stunning day!
A leisurely lie-in with tea and my book before heading out into Narnia.
It was one of those days it was so beautiful I just kept on going. No way was I going to make it the way I'd wanted to go (super deep virgin snow) so just followed the tracks already there which took me up Monks Rig on to Cap Law. It was hard going at times, mostly calf-knee deep but a few spots were more compacted/wind-blown and easier to walk on.
Very much enjoyed watching the sheep digging holes in the snow to get to the grass and then seeing a redwing and a robin darting in to dig up worms in the spots the sheep had created. Never seen that before.
It was a sublime quiet day in the snowy hills. Tomorrow and Sunday will be jam-packed with visitors before the big thaw - its forecast to be 11 degrees on Monday (17 degrees warmer than it is right now)!
