34th and 39th
It’s a while since I’ve blipped any stamps from my collection. However whilst eating my lunch today I was watching a few videos on the news website about the awful fires in the USA. So difficult to imagine how they are going to rebuild the homes and recover from this.
One video leads to another and I ended up watching a short half hour review of the state funeral of Jimmy Carter. I found it quite moving listening to the eulogy his grandson gave.
So I turned to my stamp collection this afternoon to find something ‘American to blip’ and came across this postage stamp of Eisenhower, who was the 34th president. Carter was the 39th.
I believe I’m right in saying he is the longest living president having reached the age of 100. And the only one (of 4) to have received a Nobel peace prize after leaving office. Interesting stuff.
You might be forgiven for thinking I’ve not done a lot today! But, I have done household chores, been to the post office and one or two other everyday bits and pieces.
