Ice

After a week of below freezing temperatures and no snow at all, the local boating lake had about two inches of ice on it.  The surface was smooth, apart from some loose ice thrown from the edge by youths - just perfect for skaters.

About 10 people had ignored the Council's 'Danger Thin Ice' sign and were enjoying themselves.  Some, like these three, were just skating but others had ice-hockey sticks and were hitting a puck around.

I am going to add a couple of abstract ice images from the edge of the lake with trapped air beneath and banding caused by successive days/nights of freezing.  Find them in the 'Extras'.
