Buzzing (x2)

What. A. Day.

We had two shows to deliver today, so I made sure of a fairly quiet morning and popped into town for a couple of things, which included some honey and lemon to try and protect my grossly untrained voice.

I was keyed up and excited anyway, but this went up a whole other notch on the receipt of a text from an old friend (who I hadn’t seen in around 20-odd years) letting me know that he would be in the evening audience with his family. I definitely didn’t* well up with happy tears and tell everyone that an ol’ chum was unexpectedly in the crowd or anything, but suffice it to say that my day had already been made before the show(s) had begun.

The matinees can sometimes be a challenge with groups of rowdy sugared-up children, but this one had hardly any in and seemed to be mostly adults, who were absolutely fantastic and quickly got behind us.

Then it was a quick turnaround of tidying the hall and heading down to the local golf club for a mid-shows tea before returning and getting keyed up for the second show of the day, which also went brilliantly.

Great, supportive crowd again (complete with chum and his lovely family, who I couldn’t help but hug midway through) and fantastic participation from a former member.

Safe to say that I was absolutely buzzing post-show(s) and it took my be-glittered head a little while to fall asleep.

Here’s a snap of the EIGHT wigs I wear throughout the show. The costume mistress was telling me that she’d recently seen a panto where the Dame remained in the same costume throughout! Whoever heard the like…….?

*I did.
