Nae banks on Leith Walk

When we first moved to Leith, there were quite a number of banks at the Foot of the Walk.A Santander. And a TSB (in the blip), which closed on 17 September 2024 (my birthday, as it happens...). Now there are none at all, on the whole of the Walk as far as I know. There was one on the corner of Macdonald Road, for example (a Clydesdale Bank, I think), that is now a British Heart Foundation shop.... There is just a Bank of Scotland on the Kirkgate. So I think this TSB was the last bank on Leith Walk, and now it has gone. Such are the changes - and not just in Leith. I bank with a bank that no longer has a branch in Edinburgh. Banks don't think they need retail premises any more.

We've had another rather quiet day. We had to walk over to the Walk for some shopping this morning. But I've spent most of the rest of a slightly warmer day finishing Cuddy (I enjoyed Book IV so the last part was definitely not a chore) and then doing the first decent peloton workout I've managed for a while. And we managed to hold off from putting the heating on until we closed the curtains at 4pm. My son would say I was being budget. Mr A is too polite to suggest such a thing, but he may be thinking it.

Meanwhile, up north, N and A have been checking on the cottage (so kind of them) and they've lagged our outside tap! What heroes! Hopefully the really cold weather is done for the year now, but you never know.
