Mending
When Bean woke this morning she got out of her bed, came to the side of mine and wagged her tail enthusiastically at me. What a relief.
She is gradually coming good. I think it will take a few days yet before she is fully energetic again, but she is no longer wobbly, floppy and sad.
Well, she is sad. But that's because she is starving hungry and her horrible human is only feeding her watery rice and poached chicken.
She certainly didn't join me in the fruit cage for the couple of hours it took me to pick raspberries, blackcurrants and goosegogs in the sunshine - and in what feels suspiciously like summer weather.
And even though she's on her feet again, she isn't up to walking anywhere much. So I drove down the road on my own to drop off the car for its annual service, and walked home alone. Both felt very strange: I am accustomed to having a fourleggedy companion to chat to.
So the lovely vet was right when she said she thought Beanio would improve overnight. I called her earlier to let her know. It gives me another reason to have confidence in her.
I mentioned fruit: despite picking 2.6kg of raspberries yesterday, there were another 800g today. I got 1.5kg of blackcurrants today, and 1.2kg of goosegogs. This is the peak week I suspect. And obviously I'm not posting any of the excess again, so I have eight containers of fruit to deliver to locals in the morning. That is all of today and yesterday's harvests.
My car flew through its service, with only a few things needing to be done. It was so straightforward that my kind mechanic cleaned in for me, inside and out, including the engine. It's like a new car.
It has been nice to have a day of sunshine and warmth. It's a rarity this year.
And sometime I'll catch up with Blips. Missing a couple of days is catastrophic!
