2025 Saturday — Elaine’s Bathroom

This morning we were attending a neighborhood brunch at Bob & Elaine’s house. We really do not live in their neighborhood; we live under a mile from them. However, last August we were invited impromptu to an evening neighborhood potluck in the outdoor courtyard of their place because at the potluck one of their neighbors mentioned our names and Elaine and I are church friends; quickly my phone was dialed and we asked to come have potluck dinner; and we did. So we’ve been adopted into their neighborhood.

I really, really like Elaine’s bathroom with the walk-in shower, so while I was visiting that room, I took photos. The room is bright and sunny with a big push-out window high on the wall of the shower.

Elaine says she wishes the shower portion of the room was wheelchair accessible. In the past, before they owned their place their home was a small motel, and also when Elaine & Bob first owned it, they operated a skilled nursing care facility. In her career days Elaine was an RN who worked in Nursing Care facilities.

Currently, Bob & Elaine rent out three, maybe four, of their private rooms on a long term basis; each has its own bathroom and small kitchenette. They have two rooms that are kept just for guests, there’s one big utility/ laundry room. The building is a big “U” shape. On Bob & Elaine’s portion of the building, there is one big living/family room that they seldom use because their dining room is big enough to include a comfy sofa and a couple chairs near their large dining room.

It’s quite a lovely place and this morning, because there was a small turnout, we were indoors at their dining room table. The time together was enjoyable. Elaine’s gift of hospitality is evident.
