KK: to KL

I woke about 6 and the birds had started to sing. The light was growing and it looked like the effects of yesterday's storm had definite passed.

Sat on the balcony, drinking tea, sending my Mum a Touch note card and watching the staff go to work followed by the first day visitors.

Breakfast (more paratha) then I was on the beach for the last time by 9. Lay on the lounger messaging an unhelpful #1 son about a sparkie and didn't go in on the water for an hour. Before the tide is up the water is quite shallow and you keep banging knees and legs on the coral. Ouch!

Back in the room, after nearing tripping over Gerry, had a shower and finished packing. Weight is ok. At reception watched one of the young receptionists try to explain the rooms and breakfast arrangements to a large group from the PRC. She had no Chinese, they had very little English. It was almost comical.

Said my farewells and off on the noon boat back to the landward side of the Suntera enterprise. Despite my worries I was in departures at KKIA before 1, no bag checks or anything. The only glitch was having to go back to get a form as immigration can't read, or stamp, e-boarding passes. Seemed odd as the slip of paper he did stamp was never given to anyone so I still have it.

It having taken such a short time I could have caught the 13.55 to Subang, or the earlier KLIA flight but caution has prevailed so I was on the 15.15. Consolation was it was Air Asia X which does the longer haul flights so it was an A330 with more legroom and a headrest. And I enjoyed my nasi lemak as we flew west hugging the Borneo coast for a while. The Santan meals on Air Asia are good.

We landed 20 minutes early at 5.30 but after a long taxi to the gate (15+ minutes) and an even longer walk through KLIA2 followed by the madness that is the e-hailing pick up it was 6.35 before I was in the Grab and 8.10 before I was home. The traffic in KL was awful and the route wasn't the usual one, I think through the edge of Bangsar before trying to merge into traffic and come in past the Istana, the main route out of the city instead of coming in from the south side. Then poor man missed the turn off to the residence entrance. Sigh! And of course it was raining.

Unpacked, put on the washing, had toast, Cale and Tiger for dinner (!) and watched a Call the Midwife and the start of an Agatha Christie adaptation from 2018.

Enjoyed my break and need to plan the next one.
