Hickling Broad
We were up for the sunrise, although we knew from the forecast that there would not be a sunrise as fog was predicted. We went to Hickling Broad which was only about 10 minutes from where we were staying, and it is an area characterised by thatched boat houses and reed filled marshes. As we were taking photos we could hear the cranes calling, it is one of few areas in the UK where cranes can be seen as they love to roost here in winter.
We were back in time for breakfast at 9.30am. The accommodation where we stayed is family run and the meals are all home cooked by a family member, and they were so thoughtful in making sure I had gluten free and lactose free meals. After breakfast we checked out and we were planning on visiting another location before departing but the weather was awful for photography, flat dull skies with no interest and just grey, so we decided to stay in and instead Justin went over some editing techniques and tips. We finished up by midday and I set off for home.
The journey home was fine without any heavy traffic, it was just foggy and grey all the way. Xena was very excited to see me when I got home - she has been going out with Fiona for the past few days on an 'adventure day' so she has had a good time too.
I enjoyed my brief workshop in the Norfolk Broads. Unfortunately the weather was not as exciting as last week, if we had frosty scenes and frost covered reeds in our foregrounds it would have made for much more exciting images. But then I probably would have really suffered with the cold due to my Raynaud's syndrome. This was a good warm up for my trip to Scotland in 3 weeks time, I know which lenses work best and which clothing is most suitable.
I have unpacked and sorted my things, I must now make supper so will catch up tomorrow.
