Comfort food
It was perishing again today; the wind got up overnight. Fire lit, I went for a quick shop in town and made a winter comfort food lunch: a Diana Henry recipe for sausages roasted in cider with apples, onions, and raisins soaked in brandy PX sherry. It was delicious served with celeriac mash -- bought ready made from Picard after I reasoned that 2.85 for a kilo bag couldn't be much more expensive than buying a fresh celeriac and having to peel, chop, boil, and puree it myself.
There was no way I was going for a walk today, so I stayed snug by the fire all afternoon and baked more comfort food in the form of a loaf (extra). I'm still using B's starter, and it's amazing, springing back to life after a week in the fridge. I went out to community gym (very energetic) and when I got back S had already eaten three slices. I'm very pleased with the flour I went all the way to Claira for too. So delicious.
