Stalking

After about a 1000 miles of driving in the last few days, it was good to get out for a leisurely walk. We headed over to Pooley Bridge and had a stroll along the shore of Ullswater as the sun went down. I spent a bit of time tracking a Wren in the scrub without much luck, I'm sure the Wren was having a game with me. Unlike a Robin which flew in and waited patiently for a perfect portrait, I half expected it to look over my shoulder at the screen to check it approved.
There were a group of swans in the evening light, a fellow photographer was lying commando style in some tree roots trying to get some shots - dedication to the cause.
At Park Foot, there were some particularly loud cows in a stockade, I approached but one looked over the wall in no uncertain terms (extra) so we retreated.
And then at last light, a Kestrel arrived on patrol along the lake shore,  after a bit of stalking up and down I managed to get this shot, I wouldn't call it mutual admiration, obviously I much admired her but I suspect she wondered what this idiot was doing trying to creep up on a Kestrel..
