Siesta musicale

This week the annual Voix de la Mediterranée poetry festival is on in Lodève and one of our favourite events is the siesta musicale. At 3 p.m., after a good lunch, the audience settles into yellow deck chairs arranged under trees in a shady garden to listen to poetry and hear music ... and doze off. We sat in the front row next to the flamenco singer and musician Pepe Martinez - a great view of his performance, but we had to be careful not to snore too loudly! The Serbian poet Danica Vukicevic read her work too. Almost all the events are free and it's one of the most friendly, exciting poetry festivals I've ever been too.
