On Some Days

This Is Australia Calling . . . John Williamson

No it is my hill and these Eucalyptus trees are happily growing on it.  This morning was my first time walking uphill since my back stiffened up and I did alright.  I also did two sessions of weeding.  In between we have been social.  Richard came across with his battery opperated hedge trimmer and offered to trim up the untidy yellow shrub that is behind the boat and beside the access way.  Our frontage looks very neat now.
The last house on the access way is having an open home so we all said good morning to the potenial buyers as they walked along to view the house.  Tony and Shirley have lived here 20 years and now have decided they want to be closer to their only son and three grandchildren in the North Island.  Like all of us on this street they have a view of the estuary.  The tide was in, the sky was blue and their house was bathed in sunshine so I'm sure it made a good impression.  Tony and Shirley drove in and stopped to see what we were up to.  The forester suggested it must be time for a beer.  We went to our various homes and collected something to drink and walked down to Tony and Shirleys and sat outside in their garden and chatted.  An impromptu gathering that was very pleasant.
Later in the afternoon Amanda came around with the extra for our anniversary.  She had picked those little native flowers from her garden and attached them to the wrapping paper.  I will be copying that idea.  How perfect is that gin name for us gardeners.  It is made in Christchurch, NZ
