Spring will be springing - eventually
We had freezing fog this morning. Despite that I wish I’d stuck it out with the summer duvet as now I’m far too hot in the winter one.
Ros was going to come round this morning but she’s still suffering from unfortunate side effects of being on morphine while waiting so long for her hip. Think Trainspotting. It’s 3 months now and despite the GP trying lots of remedies it’s no better. Apparently it happens very rarely. She asked me to hers instead to advise me about the Icelandic jacket I’m going to start to knit as I wasn’t sure about the types of needles required. Turned out the wording used isn’t the same as we’d use in UK. It was helpful to check it out with her. I’m needing more needles - needless to say! She also had a link to a Scottish woman who does amazing decorative mending and runs courses in Gala so I might think of it - when there’s time.
We took James’s late Christmas present down to him. He and Thomas were out playing with friends in the park. They hadn’t bothered with coats or gloves despite the freezing fog. Both boys have new glasses. I bet James “forgets” his at school as he says boys make fun of him. Thomas is so easy-going he doesn’t care.
#2 daughter gave me the rest of Cazalet series to take to Lynne for when she’s able to concentrate on reading again as she said she’d enjoyed the first one.
We talked about possibilities for a family summer holiday - it’s harder now they are bigger with Ella the only girl, a teenager. I think #3 daughter is coming round to the CenterParcs in Germany idea - each family has its own space is the advantage rather than us all in one villa which worked when they were younger. Having the good swimming pools available is also a bonus. And it would just be a base from where to visit interesting places. Even with the added cost of the ferry to Amsterdam from here it works out cheaper than CenterParcs in UK.
