Hike

This morning we got up to clear views across the valley, rather than the thick mist that was forecast. Hence it was too much to hope for the cloud inversion that accompanied the forecast.

Breakfast at the hotel was good, and by 10:15 we'd parked and set off up the trail from Lawers village above Loch Tay. We had these fleeting fine views of the higher peaks of Ben Lawers, and there was a temperature inversion up there during the day, but our target (Meall Greigh) remained in the clouds all day. Hence getting to the top was something of a dull trudge. Even at 1000m, there was almost no snow to be seen, which meant that I was fine in my "office trainers", but I've never seen such conditions in January. We saw just a little more than cloud as we headed north to avoid going straight back down. However, the route itself was remarkably pleasant.

On our way to Aberfeldy, we dropped off the hotel room key we'd failed to return when we checked out, and in the town we had excellent hot drinks and cake at the Watermill café.

The drive home took in a stop at daughter K's flat where we had showers, since we still have no heating or hot water at home. The new boiler is due to be installed tomorrow!
