Waiting
After a day of leisure yesterday, it’s back to the am-dram tonight and the first rehearsal for the next play I’m in - The Waiting Room.
This is a suspense thriller that has been written by our director, so the first performance will - literally - be a world premiere.
It’s very exciting bringing characters to life that have only previously existed in someone’s imagination. It’s also quite challenging as you hope that what you’re putting across is what the author had in mind for that character.
Obviously we’re only at the start of the process but it is already possible to see the glimmers of the characters as they start to emerge from the bare bones of the dialogue and the blocking.
It’s going to be a busy few weeks though - only six weeks until first night so we’ve got a fairly intensive schedule, with three rehearsals a week pencilled in at the moment. Mostly at the Institute in Heysham Village. The village green has featured in previous blips, but I was very taken with the lights in the tree when I turned up tonight. Don’t remember them being present when we were there last year.
Pressure is on to get those lines learnt now…
