Snip

I've had a friend over to teach me how to cut down some of my plants, like this grape vine. It completely took over the old chicken yard where I put it to keep the birds off the grapes. The whole inside was full of green leaves and branches but only one cluster of grapes. I'll try and keep after it a bit better this year if I can. We also cut back the apple tree that my landlord planted here when I moved in, three years ago. It doesn't do very well and has had some insects living in it but parts of it looks alive and well. It's interesting to learn new things, difficult to remember everything but at least I have friends to ask. 

So, in a way, spring has started. The cold weather and the mist speaks against it but my friend said it was the best time to do the cutting. We'll see about that.
