A stroll on the beach
Last night was a little unusual. The farming practices seem to have changed with regard to the cows in the field opposite us. We use to see them every few months and then feeding in small sections of the field at a time. Recently the cows seem to have the run of the field with some staying out at night. Yesterday two large loads of hay were brought into the field with a much larger number of young cows. Then we noticed that there were at least two bulls and maybe a few younger ones. They all stayed out the night. It was a little noisy at times.
When l woke the next morning they had all moved out of the field. I should have looked out the window earlier as l just caught the last of the pinks in the sky but at least l saw that. It has been so grey recently.
The sky slowly clouded over and I set off to the morning Zumba class. It was great fun as usual but l was aware of the dark clouds building up outside.
Once it finished I decided to take a quick blip on Exmouth beach. By now the clouds were fairly dark although we didn’t have any rain.
Back home l had a quick breakfast and coffee and then went down to the allotment for some more weeding. When l returned the cows and the bulls had returned.
After lunch l got ready for the book club meeting. Our book this month was Orbital by Samantha Harvey. It was a very well written book and very different. It described the thoughts, feelings and emotions of six astronauts and cosmonauts in orbit around the earth. It was very philosophical as well with individuals reflecting on the beauty of the earth and our relationship and destruction of it. The descriptions of how the earth looked were very moving. We all enjoyed the read but would not be tempted to have pursued that career when younger. An enjoyable meeting.
