Australasian darter

The Australasian darter is striking a wonderful pose. It and the unrelated cormorant do this wing thing, like me on a hot day.

Also in this photo at left is a floating wetland. On it grows vegetation that birds like, and what goes on under it is truly fascinating. The plants send down their roots which take up nutrients. This helps to keep the water clean and not choked by oxygen depleting growth.

Thanks for hosting Steveng.
