A morning spent on pondering the Big Questions:
Is there a God?
Are we alone in the Universe?
Why do some shoes pull socks down?
Most shoes, in one’s entire life, do NOT pull your socks down. That would be silly. But at least once in a lifetime, unless you’re lucky, this will happen. And it’s inexplicable.
Yes, the new shoes I got yesterday had a whirl out round the Links this morning. And the left shoe pulled my left sock down!! Why?
Very very very annoying. But at £15 - no - £7.50 a shoe, I can’t really complain. (Yes, I did try different socks).
We had decided to try out a wee cafe that used to be near us (I regularly got their fabulous bao buns). No bookings taken for lunch. But it was full within minutes of opening! So we’ll have to go another day. Or book for dinner.
We popped in to Victori Hugo, and they have a huge selection of sandwiches, pies and cakes. And they were mobbed too.
I walked home, on my annoying shoes, and took Archie out to go to the shop when the school kids weren’t clogging the doorway. I always tie Archie up by the bus shelter, and instruct him not to bark. He only barks if another dog walks by.
But I have discovered the perfect solution. When I came out, there he was, lead pulled taught, trying to reach a teeny tiny bit of bread, just out of reach. (There was a bigger bit a little further away). His eyes were GLUED to it. He didn’t even know I was there. A herd of elephants could have passed by, he would not have noticed - he was so obsessed.
So next time, perhaps I should put one of his treats just out of reach…
