This squirrel did hang around long enough, however, for me to grab a quick shot while we were strolling around Vivary Park in Taunton this morning.

There just happens to be a golf course attached to the park which I used to play quite regularly when we first moved down here in the early 80s. It’s a fairly compact course with narrow fairways and the trees that were newly planted saplings when we played are now fairly mature trees: think I’d spend more time in the trees than on the fairways now.

We’d gone down chiefly to buy some birthday presents for my golfing partners but, as well as a walk, took the opportunity for a lunch of smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels in a favourite cafe.
