If I hadn't an appointment I wouldn't have gone out!  You may recognise this place as I have photographed it many times, but not like this.  This is the south pier and the old coastguard lookout building, although looking for anything at this time would be hard!  The machine is working, repairing damage to the breakwater by previous storms.  The huge blocks had been moved and the repair was necessary to keep the channel open.  The seagull had perhaps more sense by keeping out of the wind.  I wasn't the only photographer, by the way, I counted seven!  As I write this the day has got brighter, but the wind is still blowing strongly.
