Stormy

We had plenty warnings of the arrival of Storm Eowyn today and our old barometer confirmed it as I prepared to go to work in St Andrews.

I was a bit surprised when I arrived at the surgery that the workmen hadn’t made a better effort to secure the barricades around the hole they had created - perhaps not surprising as they had apparently cut through gas and water pipes earlier in the week ! I did my best to drag them and put on sand bags. It was a day of flying wheelie bins .

Burns supper cancelled but instead I had a scary drive in the dark to assist the last moments of a lovely old dog - with fallen trees it took me almost an hour to do what should have been a 20 minute drive. The house was in darkness with a power cut and it was a surreal experience with all the family gathered around candles and using my phone torch to see what I was doing.

Hopefully it will be a while till we see another red weather warning and hear the loud klaxon warnings on our phones.
