Memorial Day candle

This evening we watched the Holocaust memorial service on TV and were encouraged to put a candle in the window at 8 pm. 

I find it quite amazing that there are people who perpetuate the idea that the dreadful events of the Holocaust didn’t happen and that young people nowadays may actually believe them. I was born just 4 years after the liberation of Auschwitz.

In 2004 we took the Rosyth ferry to Zeebrugge and drove round 7 countries in Europe spending several days in Poland during which we visited Auschwitz - Birkenau . Mrs AMK wasn’t keen to go at first but we are both so grateful that I persuaded her that we should - a visit that was so moving and which we will never forget.
