Serried Ranks

Cold and damp, but beautifully sunny. We did our favourite walk (Mouse Gate)  and had some lovely views down to the coast. In one of the fields there were a couple of rows of these plastic coated bales. 

I do feel that the enormous amount of plastic used for each bale isn't environmentally friendly. But there is no way that uncovered hay could be left in the fields like these can.  But that's what barns were used for in the past, so there is another way surely?
