The morning after.....
I woke this morning planning to head into town early to pick something up, but when I looked out of the window there was some very wet and rather heavy sleety snow falling. I had another cup of coffee instead!
I finally headed into town around 10. 30 by which time the showers had stopped and although the streets were wet, nothing was lying .
I needed to pick up a package from SeaSalt in George Street so went along Princes Street and up Frederick Street. There was very little sign of any damage, hard to believe yesterday's chaos and empty streets - but I was very glad to know at the time that neither I nor the girls were out in it.
My blip was taken as I crossed Frederick Street at George Street and looks North over St Stephen's Church in Stockbridge. It was perfectly still and beautifully clear as Winter days can sometimes be.
The green in the distance is the Kingdom of Fife all the way across on the other side of the Firth of Forth. When I look on the map I think it is over eight miles away as the crow flies and most likely just to the West of Burntisland, but I'd be happy to be corrected.
This afternoon turned into one of those days when I felt I really should be getting a well done from my mum - I tidied my bedroom! I even dusted it! We've got friends coming to stay next weekend and K has MS . I'm not comfortable asking her to climb the stairs to our spare rooms, so it's going to have to be this room and bed!
The bedroom is full of my packing stuff at the moment as well as all the usual junk. I spent about three hours and did over 4000 steps, making it fit for someone else to use. It will still need a good hoover, but I've dusted the places I don't even see normally and cleared out load of old toiletries etc which I'm never going to use.
I really felt mum should have been there to come and say "Well done." As a child I always hated having to tidy my bedroom. Mum has been dead for 45 years, so it was really rather a strange sensation.
Made me smile as I felt I could hear her voice though. Memory is a strange thing isn't it.
Hope everyone is doing ok and not having to count too high a cost after yesterday.
