River Tyne
The day after the storm, and what a contrast. It was bright and a bit windy, but nothing like yesterday, with a few sleet showers thrown in for good measure. I was feeling very weary, after a day of not very much, so decided against a run, instead I went for a walk to the river, then back through town where I picked a few things up at the supermarket, and the Farmers Market.
When I got home, BB had appeared, having got up early to catch a bus to Edinburgh so he could get back in time for rugby. TT was just sorting out his pre-match lunch, before he headed off.
TT and Ienjoyed the rest of yesterday’s soup, then walked down to watch the game. It wasn’t warm, but it was p positively tropical compared to the cold of last week’s game. TT didn’t stay long as he had a whisky tasting to attend.
Unfortunately about half way through the second half, BB had a collision at speed, and was knocked out. It all happened so fast, I didn’t know it was him initially, but it soon became clear it was him. This is never a good thing to happen. I was relieved when they got him sitting, then standing, then he was walked off the pitch, and he watched the rest of the game from the sidelines.
I caught up with him at the end, and found out he also had a cut to the head. I left him to shower, and headed home to get the car, but a friend dropped him off. He had been checked out, and as he seemed fine, and the cut wasn’t too deep, we didn’t have to take trip to A&E unless things deteriorated. I then went through all the signs and symptoms of concussion with him and he only had a headache and tiredness, so he had a sleep.
Later I went out for pizzas, which he enjoyed. He was then in bed and asleep by 8:15pm I checked on him a few times before I went to bed, and thankfully he was fine. Rugby is a dangerous sport.
This is a view down the river from my morning walk. The extra is one of the trees that was brought down by the storm.
