Around England in a Week-end.
Taking my cue from Mrs. MD's Blip for yesterday, I too looked through some old albums.
Back in 1966 we decided to publicise the opening of our new garage in Burnley by visiting every county in England (41 before the reorganisation of 1974) in 41 hours.
Yours truly and my friend Roger Baldwin drove a 1965 Mini Cooper S non-stop through the 41 counties in 40 hours. This was well before the Motorway network as we know it today existed (only the southern end of the M1 had been completed).
It was a great adventure (we posted postcards back to local newspapers as proof we had visited each county) - and the publicity got 'The Flying Wheel' (our garage) off to a flying start :-)
