Pups and prickes

My second attempt with a variegated cactus; the first came to an untimely end. Not entirely sure why, but maybe I overwatered it.

I was slightly concerned when this one developed hairy bits. More recently, through the hairs, tiny baby cacti seem to be emerging,  and a web search showed that they are indeed "cactus pups". Who knew?!
