Scarce Swallowtail
This morning we took a drive around to familiarise ourselves with the area, had a drink in a lovely shady bar and then came back to the villa for an afternoon of relaxing around the pool.
I didn't expect to be blipping a butterfly while here in Crete but the gardens of the villa are full of lovely flowers and insects......I've seen a fabulous big red dragonfly as well as these lovely butterflies. Thank you to the blippers who identified this as a Scarce Swallowtail (Iphiclides podalirius), Europe's largest butterfly!
Out for a meal tonight at one of the tavernas along the beachfront and tomorrow we're off to Rethymnon for the day!
Oh........and it's HOT!!!!!
