Barn Owl #17

After de-icing the car, it was a very cold wind that met us when we arrived at the reserve at South Walney. In the past we have had some good sightings here and once the wind died down a bit and the sun came out it was a cracking day. With 37 species and hundreds of birds seen, we were back near the carpark by around 2pm. 
The last hides around the ponds near the visitor centre have never really brought us much, but of course you have to visit them, just in case.....
Within a couple of minutes of us opening the windows we spotted a barn owl on the far side of the pond - brilliant.  But what's better than a barn owl? TWO Barn owls :))  We have never seen one here so were thrilled. 
We had a good hour of them hunting on and off which was a fab way to end our visit. A couple more in extras.
