Forest creature

A new animal/creature (?!) I chanced upon today in the Glen. 
It made me think of some sort of rodent's head, poking out from this moss covered fallen tree base.
It's not the first time I've spotted a mysterious creature in this forest https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2877354563835265364

There's a closer view in the extras, as well as a couple of other shots from the walk there today. The sun was out and shining beautifully through the trees.
