If you read news from the USA, you know our government is in chaos. Trump’s cabinet choices are bizarre. Masses of government employees have been asked to resign. Transgender people are being denied the right to medical care, their applications for passports frozen.
The jobs of Black, brown, and Asian people are in question, with no regard for job performance or years of service. The jobs of people with disabilities are being “reviewed.” Government websites that mention climate change have been deleted. Vaccine schedules have been deleted. Tariffs will make all imported goods more expensive. Arrests of immigrant workers will disrupt the food supply.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been scrapped, air traffic controller jobs have been frozen. Planes are crashing. And Elon Musk, who bought his way into power, is taking over the Treasury Department and has locked government employees out of their computers.
Left-leaning lawyers and judges are trying to halt the destruction, most of which is unconstitutional, illegal. Bernie Sanders is raging, bless him. Zoom calls are being offered to help us figure out if there is anything we can do.
In Portland, it’s raining. I’m rationing the time I spend reading news. I received some excellent reading material from a Blip friend. I made this blip during a break in the rain.
I’ve been listening to Ludovico Einaudi, whose music I find calming. I’m breathing deeply, remaining calm though sorrowful for those most vulnerable, regretting that I don’t know more ways to be useful.
